KTVZ file

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Deschutes County is seeking community members with an interest in or life experience with transportation, safety, and/or mobility issues to serve on an advisory committee for the 2020-2040 Transportation System Plan (TSP) update.

The TSP is the 20-year planning document that sets goals and policies for the County’s rural transportation system and lists future improvement projects.

The advisory committee:

  • Provides insight on community needs and priorities for transportation issues in their geographic areas.
  • Comments on and provides input on TSP goals, policies, and objectives.
  • Reviews and comments on the draft TSP and associated memorandums.

They are seeking two representatives each from the Bend, Redmond, Sisters, and La Pine areas to serve on the TSP advisory committee for a total of eight (8) CAC members.  They are seeking broad representation on the committee, which will meet at least four times in the 18 months needed to update the TSP.

The dates and times of advisory committee meetings are not yet set, but likely will be held on weekdays in the late afternoon or early evenings and will last from one to two hours.  Due to COVID-19, it is anticipated the advisory committee will meet virtually via Microsoft Teams or Zoom.

To apply, visit www.deschutes.org/jobs. Applications will be accepted until Thursday, Oct. 15.

For more information about the committee, please contact Peter Russell, Senior Transportation Planner, at (541) 383-6718 or by email at peter.russell@deschutes.org.
