‘Summer of Love’: Humane Society of Central Oregon offers half-off adoption fees, all week long

(Update: Adding video, Comments from HSCO)

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Celebrate a summer of love with a new furry friend! The Humane Society of Central Oregon is reducing the adoption fee by half for all animals six months and older from now through Saturday, June 14.

The best part is 4th graders from Rosslyn Elementary have made hand-drawn pictures of many of the adoptable animals. While the drawings have been a big hit with the visitors, the staff is getting attached to them.

Lynne Ouchida from HSCO told KTVZ news " I can honestly say it has been the greatest mood lifter amongst the staff here. It's a lot of hard work that our entire team goes through, especially when we're full like we are now, and these drawings were just an incredible spirit lifter."

To kick off a summer of love, adopters get to choose a few gifts that include toys, collar, leash, bed and more, the shelter said in its news release:

All of our furry guests would love a summertime adventure or simply lounging by your side. All adoptions include spay or neuter, health exam at a local veterinarian, vaccination, microchip ID, collar, ID tag, leash, food, and more!

There are a variety of dogs, cats, kittens and small animals at HSCO waiting to meet you – big, small, purebred and mixed breeds. The staff will help you find a companion to fit your lifestyle.

See who’s waiting to be your summer sidekick at www.hsco.org. HSCO is located just south of Reed Market Road on SE 27th Street in Bend. The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 am to 5:30 pm.
