Hayden Homes Amphitheater diverts more than 93% of waste from landfills in 2025 season
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) — The Hayden Homes Amphitheater has been recognized by Live Nation as the top outdoor venue in the United States for sustainability based on results from the 2025 concert season.
According to the venue, Hayden Homes Amphitheater diverted 93.5 percent of its waste from landfills this year. That included recycling more than 62,000 pounds of material and composting over 94,000 pounds. The venue reported less than one ounce of waste per concert guest.
The “Green Team,” managed by staff members Justin Alvarado and Peggy Lovejoy, sorts materials after each event to ensure reuse and proper waste diversion. The amphitheater’s sustainability program operates in partnership with OnPoint Community Credit Union.

Concertgoers contributed to these efforts by bringing reusable water bottles and using the amphitheater’s refill stations, which helped avoid about 89,000 single-use plastic bottles during the 2025 season. The venue also provided solar-powered phone charging stations and more than 400 bike racks to encourage low-impact transportation. Nearly 10,000 concertgoers arrived by bike over the course of the year, according to the venue.
In recognition of those efforts, Hayden Homes Amphitheater received Live Nation awards for the highest landfill diversion rate among all outdoor venues, the highest rebate redemption value under state bottle bill programs, and “Zero Waste Tour” status from Mumford & Sons for exceeding a 90 percent landfill diversion rate during the band’s two Bend performances.
The amphitheater’s sustainability program began in 2017, initially focusing on waste reduction. Since then, the venue’s landfill diversion rate has increased annually, rising from 87 percent in 2024 to 93.5 percent in 2025.
