Pacific Power Foundation awards $20,600 to six Central Oregon nonprofits

CENTRAL OREGON (KTVZ) -- The Pacific Power Foundation awarded $20,600 to six Central Oregon organizations today to support local environmental protection and community programs.

The awards were distributed through the foundation's Community Enhancement and Environmental Respect grant cycle. The funding will assist local non-profits in providing hands-on outdoor education for students, expanding volunteer initiatives and funding career training programs.

Ryan Flynn, director of the Pacific Power Foundation and president of Pacific Power, emphasized the role of local non-profits in community engagement.

“Across Oregon, these organizations are empowering their neighbors to learn new skills and care for the environment around them,” Flynn said. “We are pleased to support this meaningful work and the positive impact it has on our communities.”

Six organizations across Central Oregon received individual awards from the distribution.

• The MAC Recreation District in Madras received $5,000.
• Thrive Central Oregon in Bend received $4,000.
• The Crook County Rotary Foundation in Prineville was awarded $3,100.
• Both the Central Oregon Environmental Center in Bend and the Oregon State University Foundation received $3,000 each.
• Bend-Redmond Habitat for Humanity received $2,500.

Organizations interested in applying for the foundation's next grant cycle, centered on Safety and Wellness, must submit applications by Dec. 15.
