Mt. Bachelor announces limited opening Monday

KTVZ

With about a foot and a half of snow on the slopes and more on the way, Mt. Bachelor announced Thursday afternoon that it will open on a limited basis with a terrain park and the Nordic Center on Monday. It expects more snow and full operations in time for the Thanksgiving weekend crowds.

Here’s the full announcement — tune into NewsChannel 21 at Five and Six tonight for the scene from the slopes and more on the impending opening of the ski and snowboard season:

Although the compacted snow base isn’t quite deep enough to project traditional skiing and snowboarding on the resort’s primary runs Monday and Tuesday, there is enough snow beneath the Sunshine Accelerator lift to allow for the creation of a pre-Thanksgiving terrain park.

The park and Sunshine Accelerator lift will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

With the forecast calling for significant snow during the weekend, the resort is planning to open additional lifts, terrain and services on Wednesday, November 26 – in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.

All 2014-2015 Full Season, Midweek and 12 Day passes along with 4-Packs are valid to use beginning Monday. Single-day terrain park lift tickets will be $29 for adults (19-64) and $19 for all other ages. Prices will change when additional lifts and terrain are added to the schedule beginning Wednesday.

Mt. Bachelor’s Nordic Center will also open for the season on Monday with approximately five kilometers of upper trails groomed.

Other resort services that will be available beginning Monday:

Food and beverages from the Cocoa’s Caf in West Village Lodge and Pinnacles coffee shop in Mountain Gateway
Gravity Sports @ Mt. Bachelor ® retail shop, featuring all new 2015 gear and discounts up to 50% on remaining items from last season
Pass pictures/pick-up at the Sales & Service Center inside Mountain Gateway

Services not available until Wednesday, November 26:

Gravity School ski/snowboard lessons and childcare
Clearing Rock Bar
Ski/snowboard equipment rentals and demos
