Shepherd’s House Ministries hosting first annual ‘Christmas in Redmond’ dinner gathering at new facility

REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Shepherd's House Ministries is hosting its inaugural Christmas dinner on Friday afternoon at its new shelter in Redmond, and all in the community are welcome.

"Our goal is to provide a full holiday meal," John Lodise, the Shepherd's House director of low-barrier service, said Thursday.

Shepherd's House Ministries opened a new location in Redmond last month.

Executive Chef Kurt Lentz said, "it's incredibly rewarding. We really have an opportunity to give back to the community."

Typically, around 30 people are served food a night. For this dinner, the public has been invited -- they are expecting to serve more than 200 people.

Lodise said, "I am really looking forward to hosting a sizable event that a lot of people will get to enjoy."

At this dinner, people will get a full holiday meal. There will be ham, roast beef, prime rib and desserts, with different tables around the room.

At the dinner, guests also will be given gifts of practical value, like toothbrushes and beanies.

The Redmond location provides people with dinner and a takeaway breakfast, showers and laundry. There are dorms for 24 men and 12 women, and three family rooms.

Lodise said, "Any of them are in a situation where they can't make it to some of the larger shelters. They also feel more comfortable, because Redmond is more of their hometown."

If you're just hearing about the Christmas dinner, Shepherd's House Ministries wants you to know all are welcome. The Christmas dinner will be on Friday from 2-4 p.m., and it's free.
