Bend Veterans Raise Money — And a Flag

KTVZ

Saturday was a memorable day for residents at Fox Hollow Independent and Assisted Living — especially those who served in the military.

Bend American Legion Post 4 conducted a special flag-raising ceremony at Fox Hollow Saturday, honoring 15 of the 65 residents who are veterans.

Throughout the past few months, Fox Hollow residents raised money for their very own flagpole through many different art and craft fairs.

Dozens came out to watch the flag raised right outside the main entrance — a very special moment for the retired veterans and their family members.

“This is just so great,” said Commander of American Legion Post 4, Dennis Drury. “This is just a very important tribute and something they will always look at and say, ‘We did that, we support this, this is for us and our nation.'”

Residents at Fox Hollow also held a craft fair Saturday to raise money for its next project — building a greenhouse for those who enjoy raising flowers and vegetables.
