Prineville man arrested after O’Neil Highway crash
A 20-year-old Prineville man was arrested on reckless driving and other charges Tuesday evening after crashing his pickup truck through a fence along the O’Neil Highway west of Prineville, Crook County sheriff’s deputies said.
He and two juvenile passengers were not seriously injured, they added.
Deputies were dispatched shortly after 9 p.m. to the reported crash on Northwest O’Neil Highway near milepost 12.5, said Sgt. Travis Jurgens. Deputies and Oregon State Police found a silver Dodge pickup in a field off the north side of the road.
An investigation determined the pickup driven by Noel Solis Jr. was heading east when he failed to negotiate a corner and the pickup left the road, crashed through a fence and came to rest in a field, Jurgens said.
Solis was arrested on charges of reckless driving and second-degree criminal mischief. He also was cited for minor in possession of alcohol and having an open container of alcohol in the pickup, the sergeant said. Solis remained Wednesday morning in the Crook County Jail, held on $15,000 bail.
Solis and two juvenile passengers were evaluated at the scene by Crook County Fire and Rescue medics and, with confirmation from their parents, declined to be taken to the hospital, Jurgens said. He added that all three were wearing seat belts.
