ODA bans 14 horticultural products, urges growers to halt use

The Oregon Department of Agriculture said Wednesday it has issued 12notices of statewide detainment and stop sale and removal orders forhorticultural products that contain pesticide active ingredients not listed onthe label.

The orders call for theproduct manufacturers to immediately ceaseall sales, offers of sale, or other distribution in Oregon. In addition,products within Oregon or transported into the state by any type of businesstransaction or other method are detained.

These products are commonlyused in horticulture and hydroponics, including cannabis production.

The 12 notices cover 14products sold in Oregon that were also identified by the Washington StateDepartment of Agriculture (WSDA) in late June as containing undeclaredpesticide active ingredients. In an abundance of caution, ODA issued its ordersand is currently sampling and testing these products sold in Oregon. ODA’sactions affect the following products and their manufacturers:

Olivia’s Cloning Gel– Olivia’s Solutions, Inc.,Santa Rosa, CA

The Hammer– Plantlife Products, Kelowna, BC

Frost Protection Plus– Rambridge WholesaleSupply, Calgary, AB

Rock Resinator Heavy Yields– Rock Holdings PtyLtd., Perth, Western Australia

SNS 217C All Natural Spider Mite Control– SierraNatural Science, Inc., Salinas, CA

Root 66 1-1-1– Technaflora Plant Products Ltd.,Mission, BC

Use of these products couldcause growers to experience a loss of marketability and for cannabis to failOregon Health Authority pesticide testing requirements.

ODA has issued pesticideadvisories to growers of all crops and retailers, advising themto discontinueusing or selling the products. ODA is working with theOregon Health Authority to determine any potential human health concernsassociated with the use of products treated with these undeclared pesticideactive ingredients.

ODA will proceed to addressviolations of Oregon’s pesticide and fertilizer laws, which includeadulteration of a pesticide product and mislabeling of a pesticide orfertilizer product.
