Redmond Kiwanis to ring Salvation Army kettle bells
If you see some familiar faces replacing the regulars at the Salvation Army kettles in Redmond on Saturday, Dec. 17, it could be a member of the Kiwanis Club of Redmond. For more than 25 years, Kiwanians have taken on that task one Saturday before Christmas.
Kiwanians will staff the kettles at Fred Meyer and Safeway, and they’ve enlisted help from the Key Clubs at Ridgeview and Redmond high schools to assume that responsibility at Albertson’s and Bi-Mart, and the Ridgeview baseball team to man the doors at Wal-Mart.
Kiwanis Saturday has traditionally been the most generous bell ringing day in Redmond raising holiday funds for the needy. It also saves the Salvation Army the payroll expense of hiring its regular seasonal workers.
Also, it just wouldn’t be Christmas without a box of See’s Candy. For the fourth year, the Kiwanis Club of Redmond is selling the confections at the Sears Store on Sixth Street in Redmond.
Kiwanis members will be staffing the sales seven days a week beginning at 10 a.m. Weekday sales will conclude at 6 p.m., Sunday sales at 4 p.m. Profits from the sales will benefit the Kiwanis youth projects in the community.
Sales will continue until December 23 unless they are sold out prior to that.
