La Pine man missing; DCSO seeks public’s help

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office turned to the public for help Monday evening in finding a missing 61-year-old La Pine man.

Lt. Chad Davis said Gary Lynn Humbard was reported missing on Sunday after not returning phone calls from family members.

A subsequent search of Humbard’s home confirmed both he and his maroon 1999 Ford Explorer (Oregon license plate WZX 682) were missing.

Deputies conducted a search of surrounding neighborhoods but did not find Humbard or the vehicle he is believed to be driving, Davis said.

Humbard suffers from some medical issues that may hinder his ability to drive or walk for very long periods of time, Davis said. So far, attempts to ping Humbard’s cellphone have been unsuccessful.

Humbard is described as a white male, 5-foot-10 and about 180 pounds. It is unknown what he is currently wearing, the lieutenant said.

Humbard is known to frequent the Eugene area, but Davis said there is no specific location known to the Sheriff’s Office where he may be going.

The sheriff’s office is asking the public to view the photos of Humbard and a vehicle similar to his.

Based upon the investigation, it is believed Humbard may be a danger to himself, so Davis said the public is asked to contact 911, if he’s seen or his whereabouts are known.
