Abilitree names new executive director

The Board of Directors of Abilitree announced that Greg Sublett, current Director of Operations, will become the new Executive Director of Abilitree effective Oct. 1.

Current Executive Director April O’Meara has decided to leave Abilitree after 7 years to explore new opportunities.

Board President Brenda Speirs stated, “We are thrilled to have Greg moving into the role of Executive Director. After a thorough search and interview process, it was obvious Greg was the best candidate for the position. The board of directors is confident and optimistic about the future of Abilitree under Greg’s leadership.”

April stated, ” I am honored to have been a part of Abilitree for so many years. And I’m excited for the future of the organization to flourish under Greg’s leadership. Greg has been an important asset to the growth and sustainability of the organization. I know that his commitment and talent will set him up for further success. With an incredible board and wonderful staff, I am confident in the board’s decision and pleased to see Greg lead this important organization. “

Abilitree believes in everyone’s right to live a full and independent life. First established in 1981, Abilitree’s mission is to empower people to grow their independence, expectations, and inclusion in community life. To help individuals and their families reach their goals, Abilitree provides support with skills training, peer support, advocacy, and information and referral. Abilitree supports over 700 individuals in Central Oregon a year, who experience a wide range of disabilities, including but not limited to stroke and cancer survivors, and individuals with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities.

I have served at Abilitree for over 8 years and many of those working alongside April O’Meara , who provided strong leadership for our organization, she is an absolutely wonderful person to work with, and she will be missed. I am excited about this new role and looking forward to seeing Abilitree move forward in fulfilling its core mission. “
