BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) — Deschutes County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue volunteers responded to a mountain bike crash west of Bend on Saturday afternoon. A 46-year-old woman was injured while riding on the C.O.D. Trail at approximately 5:00 p.m.

The crash occurred on a technical section of the trail system off Century Drive. Search and Rescue volunteers hiked to the patient's location to provide first aid before helping her return to her vehicle.

The woman was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Her riding partner was able to call for emergency assistance from the trail.

Search and Rescue volunteers arrived at the scene and hiked into the trail system to reach the woman. After providing initial medical care, the volunteers assisted the woman back to her vehicle.

The patient was transported to a local hospital by private vehicle for further medical evaluation.

The C.O.D. Trail is located within the Phil's Trail Area. According to the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, the trail contains some of the more technical mountain biking terrain in the region.
