Cloudy today, sunshine and hot temperatures ahead

Today, some moisture moved into the region. Not enough for rain, but clouds will be present for the day, thickening into the afternoon. There’s a chance for some light spotty showers along the Cascades but lower elevations should remain pretty dry.

We will be right around 80 degrees, give or take a few degrees for the rest of the weekend and into early next week. This is right about normal for this time of year.

We’ve been monitoring the Darlene 3 fire this last week. Yesterday’s cooler temperatures and calmer winds alongside the little moisture that moved into our region today should help firefighters to contain the wildfire. Winds should be on the lighter side in Southern Deschutes County today, coming mostly from the north-northwest.

Looking at next week, we’ll start to heat up on Wednesday with the Fourth of July being hot and dry. Temperatures will continue to raise following Independence Day, putting our region in the low and mid 90s by next weekend.

Stay hydrated as the temperatures heat up and remember to always practice fire safety.

Have a great weekend!
