Five arrested in SE Bend drug raid

A two-month investigation of an alleged heroin dealer led to a raid Wednesday evening on his southeast Bend home and his arrest during a traffic stop, as well as four others either at his home or stopped as they drove away, authorities said.

The Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team began its investigation in June and identified the source of the supply as Christopher Alan Farrar, 26, Lt. Nick Parker said. The CODE Team used various investigative techniques to advance the case and received authorization Tuesday to execute a search warrant at the home in the 61000 block of Southeast 27th Street.

On Wednesday at around 4:30 p.m., CODE investigators saw a blue 2009 Mazda 3 leave the home, Parker said. The driver, Edgar Javier Miramontes-Gonzalez, 37, of Bend, was stopped near an auto parts store on 27th Street by CODE detectives and was detained and later arrested on charges of methamphetamine possession, delivery and frequenting a place where drugs are used.

Around 5 p.m., as surveillance of the home continued, investigators saw a 1996 GMC Suburban leaving the home, Parker said. With the help of Oregon State Police, it was stopped near the corner of Northeast Purcell Boulevard and Bear Creek Road.

The driver, Amondo Avendano-Gonzalez, 41, of Bend, was found to have a user amount of methamphetamine and was taken into custody. He was eventually issued a citation to appear on a meth possession charge, the lieutenant said.

Around 5:35 p.m., a third car left the home, a blue 2005 Toyota Scion. CODE Team detectives stopped the car at 27th Street and Anne Lane, and the driver, Farrar, was taken into custody. He was booked into the Deschutes County Jail on charges of heroin possession and delivery, first-degree theft and frequenting. He remained held early Thursday on $60,000 bail, jail records showed.

Detectives served the search warrant on the home around 5:45 p.m., Parker said, assisted by Bend police and OSP. Two women, Angelina Rose Teel, 18, of Bend and Yesinia Alfaro Menjivar, 38, of Nevada, and a 25-year-old Bend man were at the home and detained without incident.

Teel was arrested on heroin possession and frequenting charges, and Menjivar on a frequenting charge. The Bend man was not charged.

During the investigation, Parker said, detectives seized “commercial quantities” of heroin and meth, along with digital scales, cash, a stolen bicycle, five ounces of marijuana extract and evidence of butane “honey” (hash) oil, along with over a pound of marijuana.
