Planned live-fire drill to simulate liquid fires on Monday

Bend Fire & Rescue

Bend, Ore. (KTVZ) --- Bend Fire & Rescue and the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training will conduct a live-fire training exercise on Monday, Nov. 2. The activity will take place between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. at North Station in Bend.

The exercise involves a live-fire prop designed to simulate flammable liquid incidents by producing high flames and smoke. Department officials issued an advance notice to inform the public that the activity is a planned exercise and that community members should not call 911 to report the fire.

The flames and smoke are expected to be visible from Highway 20 and surrounding neighborhoods near the station, which is located at 63377 NE Jamison St. The training provides firefighters with hands-on practice responding to hazardous liquid incidents in a controlled setting.

Bend Fire & Rescue is inviting news media representatives to attend the session for photo and video opportunities. Makayla Oliver, communications manager for Bend Fire & Rescue, is coordinating media access and inquiries.
