LINN COUNTY, Ore. (KTVZ) -- An Oregon State Police K-9 team located a large quantity of fentanyl - some 60 pounds - during a traffic stop on Interstate 5 and arrested the driver, a California man.

Around 2 p.m. Tuesday, OSP stopped a white Chevrolet Impala for an unlawful lane change.

During the traffic stop, the trooper recognized signs of drug activity and obtained permission to search the vehicle. Approximately 60 pounds of powdered fentanyl were discovered in the trunk.

The driver, Jose I. Iribe, 46, of Oakland, California, was arrested for unlawful possession of fentanyl and transferred to U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration custody for further investigation.

OSP told KTVZ News on Wednesday that the investigation is ongoing and no additional information is available for release at this time.
