Rainy weekend as rain arrives late Saturday and exits early Sunday

Bend, Ore (KTVZ) – The weekend forecast is expected to be another rainy one. There is an area of low pressure off the coast that will move slowly inland Saturday providing the wet pattern. The timing of the rain has been slowed somewhat as the advent of the wet weather is likely to be in the afternoon.  This rain will be steady and beneficial with a very low chance, not zero, of some thunderstorms.

The rainy pattern will be with us overnight into Sunday as the low lumbers away to the east. The rainfall amounts will vary, obviously, but the overall amounts will range from about a quarter of an inch to possibly a half inch or more.

Sunday will be significantly cooler than our normal middle 70s as the back side of the low will import colder air from the north. Highs Sunday will be in the upper 50s to low 60s as the rain cooled air contributes to the cool down as well.  Don’t expect to see much sunshine this weekend, other than maybe early in the day Saturday.

Monday will be dry and cool as the area rebounds from the wet pattern. The air will still be on the cooler than normal side, topping out in the upper 60s, but trending warmer the rest of the week.

Tuesday remains dry and the mercury in the thermometer will pass back into the 70s. Partly to mostly sunny skies are expected as we kick off the new work week.

Wednesday will see a few more clouds arriving as there is some light rain forecast for portions of Oregon. Very spotty and subject to change this far out, but as for Central Oregon, we should just see an increase in cloud cover with little chance for showers. Highs remain in the low 70s, similar to Tuesday.

Thursday will be another brief return to the 80-degree days as high pressure takes the helm for a day or two. There will be a few days that the 80s are expected, Thursday, Friday and Saturday of next week so we have not yet kicked summer warmth away just yet.
