Very warm temperatures today with record breaking heat across the West

The ridge of high pressure will be building even more over our region today, covering much of the western United States. Record breaking heat is expected in areas across the West Coast. Here in Central Oregon, we'll see highs top out in the upper 80s and low 90s, which is about 20 degrees above normal for this time of year.

A Heat Advisory has been released for Harney, Malheur, and Baker County through Saturday evening. Heat risks are high. Take frequent breaks and make sure you’re drinking extra water if you’re spending the afternoon outdoors.

As the high pressure starts to exit east and our next system approaches, temperatures will cool progressively through the weekend. Plan for low to mid 80s on Saturday and low to mid 70s on Sunday. We’ll keep the 70s through next week.

This incoming system will also bring very gusty winds on both Saturday and Sunday. Look for gusts to get near 30mph at times.

Have a happy Friday and stay safe in the heat!
