Sunny skies and mild weather to close out September

Bend, Ore (KTVZ) – September goes out on a warm note, ushering in October with 80-degree conditions.  The ridge of high pressure over the western half of the country is maintaining the warmth as the region will be in the upper 70s and low 80s to end the work week.

High temperature readings on the first day of October will be more reminiscent of early September than early October as we hit the 80s. Sunny skies and light winds define the day as we see the fall foliage peaking this weekend.

The first day of October is Thursday and the mercury in the thermometer will reach the upper 70s and low 80s once again. Little change in the overall pattern is expected as the ridge remains.

Friday continues the warm up as highs in Central Oregon are in the low 80s most locations. Once again, rinse and repeat forecasts are in place.

Saturday is expected to be slightly warmer than Friday as we keep the run of 80-degree weather in place. Sunday will be the warmest day of this forecast period as we are expected to reach the middle 80s. Some models are guiding us toward the upper 80s Sunday, which may approach some record high levels.  The record high of 89 in Bend for the 4^th of October was set in 1958, so there is some chance we may at least tie that mark.

The first full work week of October will kick off with mid-80s as well. The area of high pressure will continue to keep us dry and warm.

The rest of the week will see the string of 80-degree weather remain as highs will be in the low 80s through Friday.

Time to get out and enjoy the mild to warm weather over the weekend. The winter season is just around the corner and soon enough we will be putting on the snow tires and heavy coats. Many of us do enjoy the winters here in Central Oregon, so we will be excited for the winter sports and activities that the area has to offer. Until then, the summer is trying to hang on for at least one more week.
