Bright Adventures Preschool opens temporary food bank to support families in need
REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ)-- A preschool in Redmond is stepping up to help its community by launching its own temporary food bank.
Bright Adventures Preschool recently learned that more than half of its students’ parents are receiving SNAP benefits. In response, the school has opened a food bank to support those families and anyone else in need.
Jess Coatney, Executive Director of Bright Adventures Preschool told KTVZ news “I love this community. I grew up here. I was born and raised here. I’ve been a part of a struggling family growing up and knowing what that’s like. And I just don’t want to be a personal. I want to be out in the community.”
The new food bank will provide meal boxes and Thanksgiving bundles during the holiday season. Bright Adventures is asking anyone who needs help to reach out by phone or email.
The preschool plans to post donation needs on social media to encourage community support while protecting the privacy of those receiving assistance.
Non-perishable food donations are being accepted directly at the school. The initiative aims to make sure no local family goes without food as the winter season approaches.
