Rain and snow move into the High Desert

KTVZ

Good evening Central Oregon!

We are set to see an active weather system make its way through the region over the next few days.

There is a winter storm warning that is set to go into effect for the Cascades this evening and be in place until Thursday at 4 p.m.

The Cascades are looking at the potential of a foot or more of snow through the overnight hours and into Thursday.

If you are planning on traveling over the mountain passes in the coming days expect to see winter driving conditions and plan for a little extra time to get over the passes.

Here on the High Desert we are looking at a few snow showers this evening before those snow levels rise and we are looking at the snow turning over to rain heading into Thursday.

This evening is going to be a bit windy for parts of the region as well with winds out of the south at 5-10 MPH and we could see gusts up around 15-20 MPH at times.

Overnight lows are set to drop down into the upper 20s to low 30s.For Thursday rain showers are likely through much of the day with highs in the 40s.

Its also going to continue to be breezy with winds out of the south at 5-10 MPH for Thursday.

Snow levels are set to stay up around 5500 ft.-6000 ft. through Friday which means we will likely be looking at more rain showers on Friday.

Wet conditions are set to last heading into the weekend before we could see those snow levels drop come Sunday and give us another chance for some snow showers.

Things look to dry out by the start of next week with mostly sunny skies overhead and highs in the 30s to 40s.

Have a great rest of your day Central Oregon!
