Oregon Job Growth

KTVZ

The State of Oregon Employment Department announced that although 2,900 new jobs were added in Oregon in the month of August, the unemployment rate inched up to 7.2% which is slightly above that of July which was 6.9%. What attributes to this? The increase in those moving into Oregon from other states has caused an increase in the number of people entering the job market in Oregon. Therefore the new job growth in August was not quite enough to further reduce the unemployment rate, however the overall job market in Oregon remains strong and growth in Deschutes County is outpacing that of the rest of the State. August numbers Statewide showed the 12th increase over the last 14-month period and the total number of jobs is 40,700 above where it was just one year ago and 127,300 above the recessionary low.
