KTVZ

A search for a missing skier at Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort will continue Thursday after a full day of searching Wednesday found no sign of the man, Hood River County sheriff’s deputies said.

Steve Leavitt, 57, of The Dalles, was reported missing on Tuesday when he did not return home from skiing. He last was seen when his ski pass was scanned at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday on the Heather Chairlift.

Searchers worked until 2 a.m. Wednesday then resumed at 7 a.m.. with members of the Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Patrol, The Crag Rats and Portland Mountain Rescue involved.

Sgt. Pete Hughes said search teams were hampered overnight by high winds, rain and then snow, a foot of which had fallen in about 24 hours.
