“Something real that we’re losing”: Tactics board shop in downtown Bend Closes

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Tactics, a skateboarding and clothing store in Bend, has permanently closed its doors due to financial difficulties. The store officially shut down on Sunday, coming just weeks after celebrating its 10-year anniversary.

Tactics management reported that while the decision stemmed from financial issues, and the team was reluctant to close the business. To mark its final days, they sold as much merchandise as they could, and then hosted a pop-up punk concert featuring local band Cptn Over.

Grant Stein, assistant manager at Tactics, reflected on the shop's role beyond retail, noting that the store had established deep local roots.

“Everyone comes here and either buys stuff or hangs out and is there to share and create memories,” Stein said. “That's the best way I can put it. And it's been year after year, more and more of a community built that has been you can't put it into words. It's something real that we're losing.”

Former staff members from Tactics plan to pursue their own creative projects following the store's closure. Unconfirmed rumors suggest an outdoor clothing store may move into the vacant space.
