Marion County convicted murderer dies in E. Oregon state prison

A 61-year-old inmate serving a life sentence for an aggravated murder and arson conviction in Marion County died unexpectedly early Saturday at the Two Rivers Correctional Institution in Umatilla, the Oregon Department of Corrections reported Monday.

As with all unanticipated deaths of state prison inmates, the Oregon State Police Criminal Investigation Division is conducting an investigation.

Around 3:40 a.m. Saturday, Richard Bradbury, 61, was found unresponsive in his cell. Medical staff immediately began life-saving efforts to no avail. He was pronounced deceased at 4:16 a.m., officials said.

Bradbury entered DOC custody on March 15 , 1994.

Next of kin has been notified. No other details are available at this time, officials said.

TRCI is a multi-custody prison in Umatilla that houses about 1,800 male inmates. It opened in 2000.
