OLCC is relaunching ‘Chance to Purchase’ rare, limited-edition liquor program

OLCC

PORTLAND, Ore. (KTVZ) – What do Blantons, Don Julio and Willaim Larue Weller have in common? It’s that they – along with 13 other rare and limited-edition liquors– are available in OLCC’s first Chance to Purchase opportunity of the year.

Your opportunity to pick up a bottle of rare and limited-edition liquor is back, Oregon!

Starting on Monday, March 11, and running for six days, a total of 354 bottles of rare and limited-edition Whiskey and Tequila are up for grabs. It’s one of the largest Chance to Purchase events we’ve ever had. Here’s what’s available:

  • Blanton’s Single Barrel
  • Blanton’s Straight from the Barrel
  • Don Julio 1942 Ultima Reserva
  • E.H. Taylor Jr. Small Batch
  • Eagle Rare 17 year
  • George T. Stagg

The public event will launch Monday, March 11 at 9:00 a.m., and run six days, until Sunday, March 17 at 11:00 p.m.

When entrants sign up they will be able to choose up to five different items; winners will be selected in separate drawings for each product type. Once a winner has been selected for the opportunity to purchase an item, their remaining entries will be disqualified. In other words, an entrant cannot win the right to purchase more than one bottle.

Open to eligible Oregon residents only, those who win the opportunity to purchase will need to complete the transaction at any one of OLCC’s 286 liquor stores around the state.

OLCC has been conducting public drawings for rare and limited-edition liquors since 2018. Growing from just six bottles of Old Forrester Birthday Bourbon offered in our first drawing in 2018 to 354 bottles of Whiskey and Tequila offered this event, the agency will now be moving from infrequent and irregular events to a predictable quarterly event schedule. Additionally, we’ve implemented additional audit and reporting procedures to help ensure that we can provide all Oregonians the same opportunity to win.

“We’ve established a more transparent process for how Chance-to-Purchase works,” said Steve Robbins, OLCC Distilled Spirits Program Director. “Our goal is to give more Oregonians an opportunity to win these hard-to-find products, while ensuring that every bottle is accounted for from the drawing to hands of the winning customers.”

OLCC receives special releases of distilled spirits throughout the year, but there is a limit on quantities we receive from manufacturers and suppliers. The state has no control over how many bottles it receives each year. OLCC plans to continue to use a public drawing format to make available a portion of these rare or limited releases each quarter throughout every calendar year.
