Bend man caught with commercial quantity of fentanyl near Sisters

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A 46-year-old Bend resident was arrested Wednesday night near Sisters after law enforcement officers found him carrying a commercial quantity of fentanyl during a traffic stop.

Jeremy Scott Boggs was taken into custody following a month-long investigation by the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement team into suspected illegal narcotics sales.

Detectives with the narcotics task force began investigating Boggs in August. During the investigation, detectives learned that Boggs was traveling to the Portland area to obtain fentanyl before local authorities intercepted him while he was riding a motorcycle.

The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office stopped Boggs at approximately 11 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 20 and Indian Ford Road as he was riding a Honda motorcycle. Boggs, who had an outstanding felony warrant for a parole violation, initially gave a false name to the deputy.

Deputies discovered a commercial quantity of fentanyl during the stop. Officers arrested Boggs and booked him into the Deschutes County Jail on charges of second-degree delivery of a controlled substance, second-degree possession of a controlled substance, providing false information to a police officer and parole violation.

The Central Oregon Drug Enforcement team is a multi-jurisdictional narcotics task force supported by the Oregon-Idaho High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area program. The program is sponsored by the Office of National Drug Control Policy to assist law enforcement task forces in disrupting drug trafficking organizations.
