Authorities: Death at Kelso campsite a homicide
KELSO, Wash. (AP) — A coroner says a man found dead at a campsite near Kelso, Wash., died after sustaining multiple stab wounds.
The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday that the man was identified as 29-year-old Nicholaus Fickett of Kelso, and his death has been ruled a homicide. Authorities say they believe he died Thursday evening.
Deputies responding to a request for a welfare check found Fickett’s body Friday at the campsite on the east bank of the Cowlitz River in the Cowlitz Gardens area of North Kelso.
About 20 volunteer searchers and four divers from Cowlitz Dive Rescue searched the river on Saturday.
The sheriff’s office says it won’t release more information while authorities continue investigating
