Sandra Meyer’s family donates to Saving Grace

It’s been a tough year for the family of Sandra Meyer, but they said Saturday’s donation of items to Saving Grace brings some good out of a terrible situation.

The news of Sandra Meyer’s disappearance dominated our headlines for months last year, as police searched for her.

Then, weeks later, her husband John Meyer took, his own life, and police say he was responsible for her death.

Her family later found her body buried in their backyard.

A plaque hangs on the wall dedicated to Sandra Lovelace Pries (her maiden name).

On Saturday, the Pries family, including Sandra’s mother, brother and sister, sat at a table, one of the many items donated by the family to Saving Grace’s new counseling center.

Saving Grace had some specific needs, including furniture and items for the children’s room.

Sandy’s mother donated a considerable amount of money to a cause that helps families in need.

“It’s important to me, and to all of us, that we know that good has come out of Sandy’s death and will continue to go on,” Jeffrey Pries said.

“She was counting on us to find her, and we did,” Pries said, fighting back tears.

“And to create and help continue something that would have helped, that hopefully will help other people not find themselves in that situation — to not find themselves in a fatal relationship — makes us all feel really good,” he added.

The Pries family calls Saving Grace “amazing” and great Samaritans for helping women at a crucial point in their lives.
