Work on Metolius River Trail set to begin

Beginning next week, crews will be restoring a well-loved trail on the Sisters Ranger District. People on the trail may experience detours or delays during the next three weeks around these restoration activities.

On Monday, crews will begin work on the Metolius River Trail. They will replace trail structures, such as bridges and puncheon, and restore sections of the trail by planting natural landscaping and placing rocks.

At different times during the work, which will end on August 24, most of the 15-mile trail will be affected.

The majority of work will occur in two locations. One area is north of Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery and the second is between Camp Sherman and Allingham Guard Station. Temporary trail closures may be in effect as needed for public safety, but will be short duration (2 days or less). Reroutes are possible in most cases.

Additional restoration work on the trail will restart on September 24 and end on October, 12.
