Redmond man jailed in Prineville hit-and-run

A 20-year-old Redmond man was arrested in Prineville Friday night on assault, hit-and-run and other charges, accused of injuring a woman with whom he’d had a dispute, police said late Saturday.

Prineville police and Crook County Fire and Rescue responded around 8:40 p.m. Friday to the area of Southwest Deer Street, where it was reported a woman had been struck by a car, said Police Chief Eric Bush.

The 30-year-old Prineville woman was taken by ambulance to Pioneer Memorial Hospital with what police initially called serious injuries, but Bush said Monday she was treated and released. Police declined to identify the woman.

The woman had been involved in an altercation with Chase Andrew Martinez and Dakota Shane Seymour, 24, of Prineville, who was riding in the vehicle driven by Martinez, the police chief said.

The woman fell and was struck by the car as they left the scene of the altercation, Bush said. Through several witness reports, police quickly located the vehicle nearby and arrested the two men for their role in the incident.

Martinez remained in the Crook County Jail Saturday night, held on $60,000 bail and facing charges of second-degree assault, felony failure to perform the duties of a driver and recklessly endangering another person, Bush said. Seymour was booked on a disorderly conduct charge and released.
