St. Charles Foundaton names philanthropy officer

St. Charles Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Lori Slaughter as senior philanthropy officer.

Previously the director of development for Women’s Health at the OHSU Foundation, Slaughter will focus on working with individuals to help them realize meaningful community impact through their charitable giving.

“My job is to make sure every philanthropist is proud of and thrilled with the outcome of their giving,” she said. “Taking people through the process of identifying the causes they are most passionate about and then matching them up with a non-profit partner that shares those same passions is exciting and extremely rewarding.”

Slaughter was raised on a dairy farm in Blanch, N.C., where she learned the value of relationships, community and a hard day’s work. She recently moved to Redmond from Sherwood, Ore., with her dog and two horses. Her philanthropic passions include women’s health, scientific education and animal welfare. Outside of work, Slaughter enjoys trail riding, gardening and hiking.

Celebrating 26 years of service, the Foundation — in partnership with donors throughout Central Oregon — has invested more than $31 million in capital projects such as adding a new wing to the Bend campus to house the Heart and Cancer centers, remodeling the Redmond hospital, purchasing state-of-the-art medical technology, adding a neonatal intensive care unit and providing countless gifts to hospital programs to advance patient care and comfort.

Slaughter can be reached at 541-706-6760 or laslaughter@stcharleshealthcare.org.
