Citizen reports, year of investigation bring drug raid on SE Bend home, four arrests — two days after fentanyl overdose
The person survived, but CODE Team says such raids have 'the potential to save lives'
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – A year-long investigation, fueled by citizen reports, led to a drug raid on a southeast Bend home Tuesday morning – two days after a reported fentanyl overdose at the home – and the arrest of four Bend residents and seizure of fentanyl and methamphetamine.
The Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team and Bend Police officers served a search warrant around 8:30 a.m. at a home in the 20000 block of Willopa Court, CODE Team Lieutenant Mike Landolt said.
Police announced their presence at the front door and advised they had a search warrant, prompting residents to leave, at which point police detained four people.
A 55-year-old man was charged with drug possession and frequenting a place where controlled substances are used. A 43-year-old man was charged with frequenting, felon in possession of a restricted weapon – brass knuckles – and an arrest warrant for a parole violation. The two others, a 53-year-old man and 33-year-old woman, also face a frequenting charge.
Landolt told NewsChannel 21 the 55-year-old and 53-year-old men live at the home, while the other two people “have been staying there for a short period of time.” (NewsChannel 21’s policy is not to name arrested suspects until formal charges are filed.)
During the raid, CODE Team detectives seized fentanyl, methamphetamine, steroids, digital scales and packaging material associated with drug use and distribution.
Just two days earlier, Deschutes County 911 dispatchers received a call reporting that someone had overdosed on fentanyl powder at the location, the lieutenant said.
“The person survived,” Landolt said, “but overdoses on fentanyl are a major problem across the nation. Members of the CODE Team will continue to pursue these cases, as each fentanyl seizure has the potential to save lives.”
Two were taken to jail, and other two were cited and issued court dates to appear. Landolt said more charges could be filed later in the ongoing investigation.
