Bend man arrested for violating stalking order after an attempted escape on foot

BEND, Ore. -- (KTVZ) -- At 12:06 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, Bend Police responded to a report of a restraining order violation in the 100 block of SE Bridgeford Boulevard. Callers reported that 42-year-old Gregory Ross Gehring had shown up at the victim’s place of work, physically attacked her and prevented her from calling 911.  

Officers responded and learned that Gehring had a stalking order that barred him from contacting the victim.

Around 2:58 p.m., officers learned Gehring had returned to his home in the 20300 block of Silver Sage Street. When officers arrived, Gehring ran away, jumping over fences and entering several neighbors’ yards in his attempts to flee.

Officers employed drones and a K9 and located Gehring in the backyard of a home in the 61130 block of Benham Road. He was taken into custody at approximately 3:24 p.m. and transported to the Deschutes County Jail on suspicion of the above charges.

Offenses: Harassment, Coercion, Interference with Making a Report, Escape III, Stalking Order Violation
