Fire destroys fifth-wheel at Sisters RV Park, cause under investigation

SISTERS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A fifth-wheel RV was destroyed by fire Wednesday afternoon at the Sisters RV Park, with flames spreading to nearby trees and grass. Emergency crews were dispatched to the park at 1100 E. Highway 20 at approximately 3:03 p.m. on March 25, 2026.
Firefighters arriving on the scene found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames. Due to the fire's location, multiple agencies coordinated to contain the blaze and manage a temporary closure of the nearby highway to secure a water supply.
To combat the blaze, the Sisters-Camp Sherman Rural Fire Protection District worked alongside the Cloverdale Fire District and the Black Butte Ranch Fire Department.
The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office and the Oregon Department of Transportation assisted at the scene to manage traffic. Officials temporarily closed Highway 20 to allow firefighters to establish a water supply from a hydrant located across the road.
The RV was deemed a total loss following the incident. The American Red Cross is currently assisting the occupant with immediate needs. This support includes providing clothing and coordinating temporary housing.
The Oregon State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire. Further details regarding the origin of the blaze have not yet been released.

At approximately 3:03 p.m., emergency crews were dispatched to a reported vehicle fire at the Sisters RV Park, located at 1100 E. Highway 20.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a fifth-wheel RV fully engulfed in flames, with the fire extending into nearby trees and surrounding grass. Crews from Sisters-Camp Sherman Rural Fire Protection District, Cloverdale Fire District, and Black Butte Ranch Fire Department worked collaboratively to contain and extinguish the fire.
Due to the location of available water supply, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon Department of Transportation assisted with temporarily shutting down Highway 20 to allow crews to safely establish a water supply from a hydrant across the roadway.
The RV is considered a total loss. The American Red Cross is assisting the occupant with temporary housing and immediate needs, including clothing.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Earlier Story -- SISTERS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A fire destroyed a motor home and damaged a nearby trailer at the Sisters RV Park on Wednesday afternoon. The resident of the destroyed vehicle was not home when the blaze broke out.
The fire, which began around 3 p.m. also engulfed several surrounding trees.
The manager of the Sisters RV Park said she witnessed the flames engulfing the vehicle and climbing into the nearby trees.
"It was engulfed," the manager said. "It was. The whole trailer was engulfed. It was horrible. It was scary. Trees were caught on fire going up the tree. This trailer over here got burnt pretty good. The shades on the inside melted."
The resident of the destroyed motor home is a carpenter. According to a friend of the resident, the man is known for handcrafting domino sets and cornhole boards.
Members of the Sisters community checked in on the resident's well-being and providing resources to help him recover. Several people have dropped off gift cards for the man, while others have offered him a place to stay while he is displaced.
Earlier Story -- SISTERS, Ore. (KTVZ) — A vehicle fire broke out Wednesday afternoon near a mobile home park in Sisters and spread to nearby trees and vegetation, according to video and PulsePoint. The Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire District responded to the scene on Highway 20 shortly after 3 p.m.
The fire occurred at the Sisters mobile home park located on Highway 20. According to the emergency response application Pulse Point, the scene remained active as of 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
KTVZ viewer Ashley Romig captured video of the fire, which showed flames spreading from the vehicle to surrounding trees. The footage depicted a large tree completely engulfed in flames. 1100 East Highway 20 Suite 1 was the specific location of the emergency response.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 3:01 p.m. At least two vehicles from the Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire District were sent to manage the blaze. No injuries were immediately reported.
Information from the response application Pulse Point indicated the fire originated with a vehicle. However, the report did not clarify whether the fire involved a standard passenger vehicle or an RV.
KTVZ news has reached out to the fire district for more information regarding the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
