Bend Vietnam Veterans Memorial’s new flagpole: Extra-tall and tough
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- After the recent vandalism of the flagpole at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Deschutes Memorial Gardens, various local businesses came together to build the memorial centerpiece back better than over.
Advanced Northwest Welding constructed and designed the new flagpole, adding some new features and security.
Company owner Sheri Saarinen said, “We just felt in our hearts us as a group, as a team of my employees, that whoever did this, it's just sad. it's disrespectful. And we as a group talked about it and decided that we wanted to do this and make it right. ”
They are part of a big group coming together to quickly get the new flagpole created and installed in time for a Veterans Day rededication next Monday.
