April showers bring May flowers; off and on showers today

We start the month with a little rain and a little snow, which isn’t out of the ordinary for this time of year. Today, showers will be off and on. Rain is expected for the majority of the region, but areas in South County could see snow mingled in from time to time. Accumulation in Sunriver and La Pine is expected to be less than an inch by tomorrow morning, and sticking mostly to grassy areas.

Showers should begin to taper off through Wednesday. We’ll continue to see periods of mountain snowfall, but areas along 97 should remain mostly dry. There is a slim chance of an isolated shower or two Wednesday, so you can pack your raincoat, but it’s unlikely that you’ll have to use it.

Temperatures will remain cool today and tomorrow, in the 40s and low 50s. We begin our warming trend Thursday as a ridge of high pressure starts to build into the region. I’m tracking highs in the 50s and 60 just in time for the weekend. There is even the potential for a couple areas to even break into the low 70s by Sunday.

Happy Tuesday! Have a nice day.
