Spring begins today, temps stay mild for a few more days

The well above normal temperatures will continue through the rest of the work week. The normal highs for mid to late March are in the low 50s, over the past few days we have hit the 70s. These temperature readings are more reminiscent of May than March.  Do not get too used to the mild pattern, it will be chilly over the weekend.

There may be a few records once again today as temps soar quickly under the sunny scenario.  The area of high-pressure overhead is allowing the skies to remain clear and the air to stay mild. The high will slowly move to the east by the end of the week, opening the door for some cloud cover and rain.  There is no noticeable frontal passage, but the air will cool as clouds arrive from the west.

The dry pattern will also shift to more of a wet pattern as we head toward the end of the work week. A few showers get squeezed out by the Cascades late Thursday into Friday, then more of a chance for the high desert to see some rain late Friday into Saturday.

Periods of light rain will define the weekend and the early part of next week. Temperatures overnight will be near freezing therefore some snow showers are possible for the morning commute times on Monday and Tuesday.

Today, at 8:09 pm the direct rays of the sun pass over the equator. This is the Vernal Equinox and marks the beginning of the Astrological Spring. Days are now longer than the nights until the Autumnal Equinox, that will arrive in September.
