Calendar shows autumn, forecast shows summer
(KTVZ, Bend Ore.) Today should be a classic fall day with highs in the low to middle 70s. Sky conditions will see little to no cloud cover as the Autumnal Equinox occurred this morning at 11:19. This Autumn feel to the region will be short lived as Tuesday starts a run to 80° weather.

The region begins a warmup tomorrow as the mercury in the thermometer is set to hit the middle 80s under mostly sunny skies. The winds will be light and from the east with gusts near 10mph at times. This week will see plenty of sunshine and a very calm and quiet pattern.
Wednesday will be the warmest day of the period with some models pushing the mercury to 90 in some of the high desert locations. Central Oregon will be in the middle to upper 80s for the most part, which is well above the normal low to middle 70s for late September. Normal high in early August is around the middle 80s.
The heat remains Thursday, but only highs in the low 80s. The region is under the influence of high pressure at the surface and in the mid-levels of the atmosphere. This will keep the area dry. An area of low pressure will continue to spin around south of Oregon most of the week, but will not make headway north and remain over California all week.
Some high clouds arrive on Thursday to provide some filtered sunshine. This will drop the afternoon highs to the upper 70s for one day before we jump back to the 80s over the weekend.
The next chance for rain is not until next Monday, and that is currently only a slight chance.
The summer extension is a welcomed sight for many as we can enjoy the warm weather exercises a bit longer. Those who enjoy the cooler days of Autumn, they are on the way.
