Windy and gray day with mountain snow and light rain

KTVZ

Bend, Ore (KTVZ) - The precipitation is staying mainly across the Cascades as several inches of snow have fallen near the Santiam Pass.  South of that location not much has fallen as Mt. Bachelor has only received about an inch today.  There is a Winter Weather Advisory in place until 5 pm today, which includes portions of Deschutes and Jefferson Counties.  No snow has accumulated but the winds are going to be a concern today. Travel through the passes and on Century Drive will be impacted by the wind and blowing snow.  Expect to see wind gusts tonight around 45 mph in some locations along highway 97, 20 and 126.

Thursday will be slightly warmer but still blustery at times. Highs will be in the middle 50s, and winds will be around 15 – 25 mph. The chance for some light rain is still on the table so keep the rain gear handy. Most of the rain will be migrating north so the better chance for showers will be Jefferson County. The amount of rain in Deschutes County will be less than a quarter of an inch, except for western sections, including Sisters, where about a half inch will fall.

Friday will maintain the mostly cloudy designation as the atmospheric river continues to push into the Pacific Northwest. The bulk of the rain will still be north but Jefferson County and the Sisters area are still expecting about a quarter inch of rain. Late in the day the rain shifts south so Deschutes County will get some rain overnight into Saturday morning.

Crook County is not expected to get much in the way of rain this week as the rain will not push that far east from the Cascades and the general flow is too far north.

After some early morning showers Saturday, the sun breaks out from behind the clouds. Partly cloudy skies will define the afternoon, and the dry pattern will linger into Sunday.

Some lingering showers impact northern Oregon Sunday, but Central Oregon will only see a mix of clouds and sunshine. Highs Sunday hit the upper 50s to low 60s. Monday and Tuesday will be much warmer as a ridge builds across the western United States. Highs will be in the low 70s both days.

Please, Stay safe.
