Cloudy and cool pattern with showers possible late today and tonight

Bend, Ore (KTVZ) – Cloudy skies and scattered rain showers will define the day.  An area of low pressure is moving south along the coast and will provide the clouds and the rain.

Tonight the rain will be off and on as the low continues to migrate south. The rain will be light and linger overnight. Crook county will get a bit more rain than Deschutes and Jefferson, but all will see mostly cloudy skies.

The rain tapers off early in the day with some light showers lingering into the morning commute Wednesday. The high temperatures on Wednesday will only reach the middle to upper 60s as the region dries out slightly.

The above mentioned low will meander in Northern California Wednesday then move slowly northeast toward SE Oregon Thursday. This will bring another round of rain to the area arriving from the east and pushing west. Crook County will once again see the lion’s share of the rain, but more than likely less than a quarter of an inch.

Computer model solutions vary after Thursday as some have the low lingering into early Saturday while others suggest less of an impact past Thursday. Bottom line is that the Tri-Counties will see the rain come to an end before the weekend with partial clearing skies Friday and a warming trend develops.

Highs Friday will be in the middle to upper 70s as the sun begins to take over.

Saturday and Sunday, the last weekend of summer 2026, will be very summer-like. Highs will reach the low 80s on Saturday and the middle 80s on Sunday. Normal highs for the middle of September in Central Oregon are around the mid-70s. Not much of a deviation, but warmer none the less. Plenty of sunshine is expected this weekend, a change from the past two weekend where we had rainy and cloudy conditions.

Monday will be the last full day of summer 2026 and we are expected to hit the low 80s under mostly sunny skies.

The Autumnal Equinox occurs on Tuesday the 22^nd at 5:05 pm local time. This is when the direct rays of the sun cross the equator, heading south for the winter.  Equal parts daylight and darkness (roughly) will occur Tuesday followed by shorter daylight hours into the fall. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy Tuesday with highs in the low 70s.
