A Smile for Kids enters new chapter, launches survey

A Smile For Kids

REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) – Redmond-based nonprofit A Smile for Kids announced Monday it is launching a messaging survey to better guide the organization’s work. The survey seeks public input on how best to tell the organization’s story after its recent transition into an independent nonprofit organization.

“This is a pivotal time for ASK,” said Executive Director Christian Moller-Andersen. “We see this moment as an opportunity to reconnect with the communities we serve and learn how to better share the story of the power of our work.”

ASK partners with orthodontists across Oregon to provide orthodontic treatment and braces to under-resourced youth. In addition to improving kids’ smiles, the organization places a strong emphasis on education and community service, ensuring that all kids who participate in the program must achieve and are encouraged to maintain grades at a C or above and provide at least four hours of community service each month.

The survey will help guide ASK’s messaging on key impacts of the program, including in the areas of trauma and resilience, increasing equitable access to health care and ensuring better health and educational outcomes for underserved youth.

“As we shift the way we talk about the lasting impact of our work, it’s important that we’re hearing directly from the communities we serve about what they value most,” said Moller-Andersen.

The results of the survey will be used to guide a more robust outreach and engagement campaign, update communications materials and are part of a larger effort of the organization to root its work in data-driven decision-making.
