Jessie Foster
Producer/reporter/anchor, NewsChannel 21
Bend is my hometown! I grew up in Central Oregon, and I am so excited to anchor, report and produce the news for the community that helped me grow into a young adult. I'm currently co-anchoring NewsChannel 21 at Sunrise with Mike Allen and working alongside Chief Meteorologist Bob Shaw.
Communications, reading and writing sparked my interest in high school. By college, I realized “anything but math” could work for me.
I graduated from Summit High School in 2012, and attended the University of Oregon thereafter. I graduated Cum Laude from the School of Journalism and Communications with a minor in political science in June 2016. I started working with KTVZ in July 2016. I was raised in a family of Beaver fans, so imagine the shock when I was the first-generation Duck of the family!
During my time at Oregon, I was an opinion columnist for the Daily Emerald newspaper, reported and anchored for the student-run Duck TV Broadcasting Show, and studied cultural journalism in Greece and Italy during my junior year.
In the summer of 2014, I interned with KTVZ and learned essential skills that I needed to pursue my career as a broadcast journalist and future storyteller. This history with NewsChannel 21 makes me all the more delighted to work in my hometown.
When I’m not covering the news, I’ll either be on horseback or at a rodeo, hiking the Cascades, skiing, enjoying the local brewery community, running the river trail, hanging out with dogs or stuffing my nose into a good book.
Everyone has a story, and I want to share as many as I can. I am thrilled to work at KTVZ with inspiring coworkers around me to share those stories with the community and the world.
