Raises more than $10,000 for Cascade School of Music instruments
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Hundreds of people woke up early Sunday morning to play some Mother's Day bingo - Not'Cho Grandma's Bingo - all for a good, musical cause.
The Cascade School of Music hosted the event at Silver Moon Brewing in Bend, raising funds for needed instruments.
The lively atmosphere included music, dancing, drinks and of course, NotCho' Grandmas Bingo. The event helped to raise money for new instruments for the school's band and strings program.
The nonprofit school has more than 500 students attending. The much-needed money will cover the cost of new drum sets, piano tuning and repairs.
"It has been a spectacular morning so far, because of about half of the people have not heard of the school - and the other half, there are many who have students in the school. " board President Judy Heck said. "I can tell you that music education is one of the things that sets up a child for life."
Executive Director Robert Lambeth said, "We have well over 200 people here today, and we're so grateful for everybody for coming out today."
The school raised more than $10,000. Cascade School of Music's youngest student is 18 months old and their oldest is 94 years old.
