Salvation Army in Bend ‘looking for Christmas miracle’
Needs 500 more toys and coats to help families in need
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Last year, The Salvation Army in Bend assisted more than 350 families and provided 1,500 children (ages 0-18) with presents and clothing for Christmas -- and on Monday, they recognized that the need is greater than what they had anticipated.
“We are working to give each child at least two toys if possible," said Captain Rachel Johnson, corps officer with The Salvation Army of Bend. "We are in need of 500 more toys and coats to ensure that we have the capacity to help each family who comes to us for assistance."
"We are looking for a Christmas miracle," Johnson added. "We are very grateful to all those who have given us gifts already, but we are asking for even more help as we have more families to help this year than expected.”
