BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The Family Access Network received over $900 from the Central Oregon Association of Realtors to support basic-need services for children and families across Central Oregon.

FAN received a $500 grant from COAR in September 2019, and was also the monthly tour beneficiary in February 2020, which raised more than $400. These funds will be used to connect local children and families to basic-need services including nutritious food, safe shelter, school supplies, health care, and much more.

“Partners like COAR make our work in Central Oregon possible. Together, we are able to make sure kids have the essential resources they need in order to thrive,” said Julie N. Lyche, FAN's executive director.

COAR seeks to support healthy communities throughout Central Oregon by contributing to a large variety of nonprofit organizations. In 2019, COAR donated to more than 35 nonprofits and events in Deschutes, Jefferson and Crook counties. They are proud of their commitment to support organizations that better the lives of Central Oregonians.

Unique to Central Oregon, FAN began in 1993 and currently employs 25 advocates at 59 public schools (K-12) and early childhood sites in Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson counties. The direct placement of FAN advocates within the public schools allows FAN to effectively reach and connect disadvantaged children and families to essential basic needs.

The Family Access Network’s mission is to offer assistance, possibility and hope to Central Oregon families in need by connecting them with crucial resources that will help children flourish in school and in life. Every year FAN advocates improve the lives of nearly 8,000 children and family members in Central Oregon.
