C.O. Realtors help cities mark Fair Housing Month

C.O. Association of Realtors

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Every April, Realtors® across the country celebrate the passage of The Fair Housing Act on April 11, 1968. In order to affirm our ongoing commitment to fair housing and the Realtor® motto that “Fair housing makes US stronger,” the Central Oregon Association of Realtors worked with cities throughout the region on acknowledgements, proclamations and resolutions recognizing April as Fair Housing Month.

On April 14th, the City of Madras passed a proclamation declaring the month of April as Fair Housing Month. During the April 15th meeting of the Bend City Council, Realtor® and City Councilor Justin Livingston recognized Fair Housing Month. The Redmond City Council passed a proclamation earlier this week.

“The City of Bend is committed to the mission and intent of Congress to provide fair and equal housing opportunities for all. This commitment is implemented through an Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing and through annual training to our committees and community.  Ensuring housing opportunities for all people has been a foundational principal of my service at the City of Bend,” said Livingston.

COAR members observe the intent of the Fair Housing Act throughout the year through education, training and in practice. The right to fair housing is essential to a free, open market where all consumers have access. To learn more about Fair Housing Month visit nar.realtor/fair-housing
