BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The Latino Community Association will open a second round of emergency aid from May 18-22 for Latino residents who have lost income due to the pandemic, but will not receive public safety-net benefits.

A total of 219 generous Oregonians have donated so far to LCA’s COVID-19 Immigrant Family Relief Fund, according to LCA staff. The total raised, counting grants from foundations, is over $160,000. So far, the organization has disbursed $59,000 in funding – up to $400 per individual and $750 per family – to help pay rent or mortgage, and utilities for 98 families.

Beginning Monday, May 18, more families can request funds. To be eligible, applicants must have been laid off or had work hours reduced, and not qualify for unemployment benefits or a federal stimulus check. To apply, visit www.LatinoCommunityAssociation.org or call 541.382.4366.

LCA has boosted its COVID-19 fundraising goal to $200,000. All donations go exclusively to families in need, not to cover administrative costs. To donate, visit LatinoCommunityAssociation.org
