Crook County Sheriff’s Office, Prineville Police report results of ‘seat belt blitz’ safety enforcement effort

PRINEVILLE, Ore. (KTVZ) -- From Monday, May 20, through Sunday, June 2, the Crook County Sheriff’s Office and the Prineville Police Department participated in 11.5 hours of enhanced safety enforcement. 

They conducted 26 stops which produced: 1 citation for driving while suspended, 5 warnings for distracted driving, 9 warnings for seat belt violations, 7 warnings for speed, 5 warnings for failure to obey a traffic control device, 6 warnings for no proof of insurance, 3 warnings for no proof of registrations, 7 warnings for equipment, and 3 warnings for other violations.

This enhanced enforcement is provided through overtime funding from the Oregon Department of Transportation and the USDOT’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The Crook County Sheriff’s Office and the Prineville Police Department encourage everyone to wear their seat belt, even for short distances, and to drive safely!
